City Approves Honda of Newnan

Newnan city officials gave approval on May 31 for the construction of a new Honda dealership at Newnan Crossing Bypass. Honda of Newnan will likely open in the spring of 2018.

Officials from Hendrick Automotive Group say the dealership will be located on a 17-acre site at 391 Newnan Crossing Bypass. The 64,000 square-foot location will feature a large service center with 40 service bays.

John Hicks, who has previously served as service manager of Gwinnett Place Honda, will serve as the dealership’s general manager.

“This is going to be one of the largest dealerships in our area,” said Hicks. “We are probably going to have about 300 new vehicles in our inventory, as well as 100 used vehicles.”

Gene Cocchi, vice president of corporate real estate, says construction is expected to begin soon. “We are hoping to get started soon, and to have everything completed by the second quarter of next year—weather permitting,” he said. “Honda has a very specific image laid out for this dealership. It will be a Generation 3 dealership, which will really represent the brand. It will also allow us room for expansion as we anticipate growing in that market.”

Henrick Automotive currently operates in 14 states with over 100 dealerships. The company is the largest privately held dealership in the United States, and recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

“We are really excited to open Hendrick Honda of Newnan and bring the Hendrick culture to this area,” said Hicks. “We pride ourselves at Hendrick because we stand out from other dealerships. Mr. Hendrick has always been all about taking care of our customers, and we are going to continue that culture here in Newnan.”

Asked about the groundbreaking for the new dealership, Cocchi replied, “We have the green light from the City to begin construction, so we will get started very soon. We are all excited to open Honda of Newnan and begin serving customers in the Newnan area.”
